...my whole "Please Do Not Use These Base Edits. Please Do Not Copy This Character. Please Do Not Draw Art or Use This Character Without Permission. (This includes Gift Art)" thing I have been adding to all my OCs' references, etc.
there are a few reasons why I have started to do so and have been going back and doing so to other oc references.
1) I cannot use thumbcodes in my descriptions because I am not a core user (and I do not intend to become one any time soon)
2) this is an attempt to stop the spike of requests I have been receiving to do "fantasy ship" art with my OCs. Fantasy ships, for those who do not know, a thing that I guess is starting to be trendy to do where you do ship art or ship fiction of 2 OCs/Personas/Mascots that have no canon connotations and are not "official" relationships. Similar to shipping characters in various fandoms for the fact that "they would be good with each other" or "look good together". Which is a cool concept but not something that I am considering at the moment(if I ever do consider it, I will be the one to initiate it not the other way around)
3) this is to prevent people from drawing some of my recently posted OCs (Ichiro from MAJ-K, Airu, Nobuyoki, Kensuke from the Candy Melt Boy sheet to name a few)
as females, which has happened already. (with both fanart and commissioned art; the latter being the fault of the person I was commissioning due to their insistence on receiving personality/profiles for the characters and then disregarding it completely in the terms of the commission. You know who you are if you are reading this and you know how upset I was/am when I was receiving the art if not because of this but because of the strongly worded note I sent in reply to the commission). The former was caused by the person simply liking the design in the thumbnail and not bothering to read the description when drawing the art... (xvx)
4) To prevent porn/nsfw art being created of them. Which nearly happened with Viohla a loooong time ago when I bought a custom outfit for her that someone interpreted as a pinup outfit rather than something she would wear casually once she got older in her canon (Key to My Soul, not owned by me but an IRL friend). I didn't make a big deal back then because the person was very respectful about it and made the art private after learning of their mistake along with a sincere apology made to me regarding their ignorance. That being said, its been brought to my attention that some people have been doing it to others OCs recently so I am including it to my reason.
5) My characters are in development are often tied to various works of fiction, fan made and original. None of my OCs are technically finished, i am constantly updating them, allowing them to grow from their initial concepts. Example; "girl with short brown hair who can see the future yet is cheerful" to "girl whose hair is a symbol of her development from having abandonment issues and trust issues who can see the future, every possible future but still finds enough goodness and hope in those around her that she can still smile to being a confident lady who can still see the future and still carries the issues of her past but has learned to live with it and not let it define her as a person".
Do you see my point? I would rather that I have control over art of them to prevent people from taking that superficial concept and running with it when they could have the full story.
Also as stated, all my OCs are tied to various works of fiction. Viohla is in KMS, an original story made by an IRL friend about a dystopian world who has scorned gifted individuals, MAJK is a fictional band in my Sailor Moon AU in which they're also former knights of Elysian during the Silver Millennium, Robynn and Grayson are twins to a fanfic of a Taiwanese novel, Mikayla Van Helsing is a witch in a Teen Wolf/Vampire Diaries short story AU I made when I was obsessed with the shows, etc.
6)Because my OCs are my children. They are individuals who have grown with me, who have parts of me in the; parts of my life, parts of my memories and parts of hopes and dreams in them.
Thank you for taking the time to read this(or skim this). But that is my reasoning and I hope that what I said gets to anyone who was intending to do art of my OCs.
